今回の仙台クラシックフェスティバル2014のコンサートの前に一つ大きな公演をただいま準備しています。それはある縁で私がプロデュースをさせて頂いているオペラ「椿姫」の公演です。宮城県の斜め上の秋田県の能代市でです。一昨年にこのオペラ公演をした時、秋田県で「椿姫」の全曲公演が初めてということで大変話題になりました。今回は秋田県が国民文化祭の開催地ということでこの公演の再演が決まり、大変熱のこもった公演になりそうです。
この公演では私がジェルモン役を歌うのですが、それと共に演出もしています。歩き方からグラスの持ち方、乾杯の仕方や拍手の仕方など、舞台に立つ能代市民の合唱団にアドバイスをしながら演出しています。いつも思うのは東北人の謙虚な姿勢が舞台上にも出てしまうということでしょうか。東北出身の私には理解できる動きがよく見られ、それをいかに舞台上に相応しい動き、パリの社交界の雰囲気が伝わる気品を生み出すかに苦労させられるところでもあります。能代市で公演をするからには何かオリジナリティな演出が出来ないかと考えたところ、原語公演でありながら予算の関係で字幕が付けられないので、主人公ヴィオレッタの亡霊が現れ、当時の想い出を語ることによってだいたいのあらすじが分かるように演出しました。しかも能代弁でです。宮城出身の私が理解できない言葉がたくさん語られています。しかしその亡霊の登場により、初めてオペラを観る方々がより身近に感じ、そして集中して音楽と演技を楽しむことが出来るようです。この演出でいろんな地方のいろんな方言で出来ないものかと考えてしまいます。この宮城県の方言を使っても。

【83】で歌う「第九」は仙台でも何度か歌う機会がありましたが、やはり宮城で歌う「第九」は特別ですね。一緒に演奏するオーケストラ、合唱団、そして観客の全てが友であり兄弟に感じてしまうのはやはり故郷で歌うからでしょうか。フェスティバル2014の締めくくりを皆で讃え、次に向かってスタートしようではありませんか。
